The "Merchandise Analysis B" report shows you the basic principles upon which Retail Technology has developed reports to aid good merchandising and stock management practices. Click the small scale report on the left to view in full size.
It is based on the principle that "sales", "stock" and "on-order" should be in balance. What this means is probably best explained by looking at the example report which can be viewed here. We suggest that you print this report now so that you can follow the explanation a little easier here.
In this example report the sales in Ladies shoes as a percentage of total sales represents 34.07%. The value of the stock currently present represents 26.63%. In an ideal world, if sales represent 34.07%, the stock should be very close to that percentage figure also. The question the retailer ought to ask himself (or herself) is whether they could have sold more ladies shoes if they had had more stock. Perhaps the retailer should have bought fewer mens shoes and have put that money in ladies shoes.

This report shows you your sales, stock and what you have on order by price point. Over the years we have found that retailers generally over estimate the average selling price of the merchandise they sell. This report shows you exactly what the reality is by price point. The bracket of £40 to £45 is by far the most important price ticket in this retailer's business!
